Dr. Proujansky

Dr. Rachel Proujansky is a licensed clinical psychologist dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based treatment to help individuals overcome struggles with mental health and substance use and improve their quality of life.

Dr. Proujansky specializes in treating individuals with:

• Anxiety disorders
• Depression
• PTSD and trauma-related issues
• Substance use disorders and other addictive or compulsive
behaviors

She also works with family members of individuals with addictions and psychiatric concerns to develop behavioral, communication, and self-care skills to help them stay connected to and supportive of their loved one.

Dr. Proujansky’s approach relies on building a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental relationship with her patients where they can feel safe exploring their thoughts and feelings. She works collaboratively to develop practical strategies to reduce or manage symptoms, help people achieve their personal goals, and build resilience.

Within this relationship, Dr. Proujansky uses techniques grounded in Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), proven methods for effectively addressing emotional and behavioral challenges and supporting long-term change.

Outside of private practice, Dr. Proujansky is a staff psychologist and the Director of Trauma Services at the Center for Motivation and Change. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, and Physicians for Human Rights. Dr. Proujansky also volunteers with the Columbia Human Rights Initiative Asylum clinic providing psychological evaluations for asylum seekers.
